Collections

The Naval Museum collections include objects, artwork, books, technical drawings, records and photographs. All are available to the public. A large amount is accessible online.

The Naval Museum collections have been built up over the years ever since the museum was founded in 1752 – over 55,000 objects, more than 4,000 drawings, 250 metres of shelves containing archival documents, 200,000 photographs and about 20,000 books. A selection is on show in our exhibitions, but most is preserved in the museum stores and archives for the future.

The collections are open to the public. You can either come and visit us or  browse through the collections directly online and search by category such as object, book, picture or drawing.
