Jarramas maintenance site
The HMS Jarramas has to a large extent been renovated over the last couple of years, especially since 2005. With this new website we want to give our visitors the opportunity to follow the ongoing renovation work on Jarramas a bit closer. Here you will be able to see what kind of work that has been done so far, what is going on right now and what lies ahead.
Besides the new possibility to follow the renovation and maintenance work at close hand the visitor will also be able to view a large amount of older material related to Jarramas in different ways on this new website. This ranges from protocols of the Town Cultural Committee, the diaries of a young sailor, invitations to festivities in the 20s and numerous pictures and movie clips of yesteryear.
This page gives you a sneak peak now but we hope to kick off more seriously towards the autumn with a more complete range of information on the Jarramas project.
The HMS Jarramas is currently moored alongside the Naval Museum with its white hull and its yellow masts. She is one of the world's smallest full-rigged ship and the last sailing ship that left the Karlskrona Dock Yard in the year 1900 to serve as training vessel for the Royal Swedish Navy.
In the summertime you can go on guided tours and hear more about Jarramas history and the life of those who served on board. You can also go on board yourself to see how the renovation is proceeding.
