Objects
The Naval Museum’s collections contain over 55,000 objects. The majority are housed in the museum stores but many can be seen in our exhibitions.
The Naval Museum’s collections contain the great and the small, from complete ships down to the tiniest uniform button which relate to the history of the navy and coastal artillery. Detailed ship models – originals from the 18th century – elaborate compasses, furniture and kitchen utensils which tell of life on board ship, paintings with maritime motifs, powerful canons, much-used tools from boatyards, high-technological apparatus, and magnificent uniforms
Many of these exciting objects can be viewed in the museum’s exhibitions, but the majority of our historical objects are kept in the museum stores where they are preserved for future generations. The collections are replenished continuously with new items, providing new perspectives on Swedish naval history.
