Underwater tunnel

Do you want to see a real wreck from the 18th century? Do you want to learn interesting facts about marine archaeology? Then don’t miss the Naval Museum’s spectacular underwater tunnel.

The Baltic Sea has remarkable qualities that preserve shipwrecks and other wooden relics of the past. This is why there is such a unique source for Swedish history lying intact on the seabed.

In the Naval Museum’s popular underwater tunnel you can see for yourself what it is like to go below the surface as a true marine archaeologist. Outside the tunnel windows lies an actual wreck from the 18th century.

Exhibition on marine archaeology

The underwater tunnel also contains an exhibition. Go to the bottom about marine archaeology, where we explain about the wrecks in the Karlskrona region and look at the whole Swedish underwater scene that is far from fully researched.

In the darkness of the tunnel, enlightening pictures, texts, models and finds introduce you to the dramatic world of marine archaeology. Above the tunnel there is a computer station where the curious can delve even deeper into the topic.
