Minesweeper Bremön
Want to go onboard a genuine warship from the Second World War? If so, visit HMS Bremön, the Naval Museum’s minesweeper from the 1940s. A favourite among both children and adults.
HMS Bremön is a minesweeper and one of the Naval Museum’s most popular museum ships especially among our youngest visitors. In the summer you can go onboard this unique warship from the 1940s and explore the whole vessel on your own.
Climb up to the bridge and inspect the telegraph room and wheelhouse. Peep into the crew’s cabins, go around in the machine room or look into the mess. The whole ship is open and most of the interior has remained intact from the ’40s.
Mission – to clear mines
HMS Bremön was one of fourteen Swedish minesweepers launched during the Second World War. In construction she recalls the destroyers that were also built at this time. Her objective was to remove German mines from Swedish waters, and also to place her own against the enemy.
HMS Bremön is the only one to survive. A visit onboard allows you to experience the robust and mechanical interior of a ship from the ’40s. A fascinating and instructive visit for the whole family.
