The Naval Museum covers the history of the Swedish Navy from the 1500s until today. In the last few years, research has been carried out about the introduction of new weapons and technology into the Swedish Navy, Karlskrona as a naval city, Swedish naval officers and their involvement with political and societal affairs in the early 1900s, and Swedish naval officers and national identity.
According to its research policy, the museum will, until 2029, focus its research on the first part of the 1900s until today.
The Naval Museum is open to research collaborations regarding the Swedish Navy. History, ethnology, and political science subjects are of special interest. However, the museum is generally interested in cooperating in scientific studies that cover its activities.
