About the Exhibition

The art exhibition highlights Karlskrona’s architectural heritage through the intricate watercolors of Sven-Olof Bergström. His works capture the city’s historic buildings and its maritime history. Among the featured landmarks are the Boathouse and Barge Shed, the Sculpture Workshop, and the Admiralty Church – all important buildings of the Naval City of Karlskrona.

Thanks to his wife, Karin Bergström, the original artworks have become part of the Naval Museum’s collection. They are now being displayed as large-scale images in the art exhibition, open for the public to enjoy.

About the Artist

Sven-Olof Bergström (1929–2012) worked as a planning engineer at the City Planning Office of Karlskrona Municipality and had a strong passion for art alongside his profession. He was inspired by his hometown Karlskrona and its unique buildings in the Naval City.

His artistic process began with pencil sketches, which he then enhanced with ink before applying watercolor to bring depth and life to his works.

Welcome to experience the art exhibition in the South Wing of the Naval Museum!
